Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut – All Wind Shrines Solutions Guide

Iki Island holds many mysteries, and if you have been spending time in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, you might have stumbled upon some strangely familiar Wind Shrines. The three sites each contain a huge statue, a scroll with some cryptic text, and callbacks to the likes of God of War, Bloodborne, and Shadow of the Colossus. If you are wondering about the solutions, here’s our guide to solving all the Wind Shrines in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut.

Guide To Solving All Wind Shrines In Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut

In total, players will discover the following Wind Shrines:

  • Shrine of Ash (North of Yahata Forest)
  • Blood-stained Shrine (Above Gonoura Cape)
  • Shrine in Shadow (South of Buddha’s Footprints)

The key to solving the Wind Shrines lies in donning the right armour and executing the right action.

Shrine of Ash

The Wind Shrine that celebrates God of War, the instantly recognisable Leviathan axe and Freya’s handprint leaves no room for guessing. Pick up the scroll and the message reads:

In fall, a tree fruits
which grows from seed to sapling,
a stranger and son.
Boy, honor your father’s fight.
Show him the strength of your blade.

The key to solving this puzzle is the last two lines. In this case, you are supposed to be honouring Jin Sakai’s father, Kasumasa Sakai. The Sakai Clan Armour is what you will need.

To show him the strength you possess, simply draw your sword while standing in front of the shrine.

A cutscene will play, and you will be rewarded with the frankly awesome Helm of war, Spartan face mask, and Ghost of Sparta paint job for the Sakai Clan Armour.

Blood-Stained Shrine

On the western side of Iki Island is where you will find this Wind Shrine in Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut. The imagery used is reminiscent of Bloodborne and Yarnham, and to solve this shrine, you will need to get your hands dirty. The scroll here reads:

The first green of spring
sickens to black, decaying,
plagued by blood and beast.
Hunter, reject death’s allure.
Prepare to duel man’s frailty.

Once more, you will need to pay attention to the last two lines. The Hunter here requires players to wear the Kensei Armour, with the next step being to reject death’s allure and duel man’s frailty.

In order to do that, you will need to heal yourself using Resolve. Jump off the nearby cliffs and cause some damage, and heal up in front of the shrine.

The cutscene will play, rewarding you with the Yarnham Helm and the Yarnham Vestments variant for the Kensei Armour.

Shinre in Shadow

Lastly, we will be heading to the Shadow of the Colossus Wind Shrine, located in the southern part of the island. The cryptic message that you will need to decipher reads:

Stone knows no season,
Nor the colossus that was
felled to save one soul.
Wanderer, come like through mist,
a ghost casting no shadow.

Pay attention to the last two lines once more. You need mist and to move like a ghost. The Ghost Armour is the right equipment for this one, and rather than play the flute to get some mist going, there is an easier solution.

Throw a smoke bomb in front of the shrine and trigger the cutscene. You will be rewarded with the Mask of the Colossus, and the Armor of the Colossus cosmetic variant for the Ghost Armor.

With that done and dusted, you will have new cosmetics to play with when fighting against the Eagle and the pesky Mongol invaders. If you need some more help, such as getting the ‘Monkey See’ trophy or mastering the Archery Challenges around Iki Island, you are already in the right place.
