Like most things in the tech scene, the smartphone market comes with various offerings that cater to different needs. The flagship models are all the hype, but that doesn’t mean that their lower-end counterparts should be dismissed – as demonstrated by the surprising prowess of the Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro.

Armed with a 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED screen and measuring 7.9mm thin, the budget alternative is the slimmest device in POCO’s X series of smartphones. The reduced form factor, however, bears little influence on performance, with a Snapdragon 778G chipset and flagship-level 120Hz refresh rate working together to deliver vibrant, smooth visuals and a fluid user interface.
It doesn’t just run well, either. The POCO X5 Pro is a handsome looker that boasts better design than some of the flagship models out there, and impresses with its decent camera capabilities, especially for its price. While its starting price of S$429 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory is slightly higher than the average budget smartphone, it holds its own pretty well, and comes in as one of the best budget picks on the market.
Check out the above video as the Xiaomi POCO X5 Pro is put through its paces, where it establishes itself as a well-rounded, competent choice that’s preferred over pricier and higher-end models like the Nothing phone.
