Gamescom 2018: Nero Takes Centrestage As Devil May Cry 5 Gets Fixed Release Date

Dante’s confident-bordering-on-cocky, fearless attitude has pushed him to become a popular icon in the gaming community, so it was only natural that the demon-hunting vigliante will be missed when Nero, the other half of the Devil May Cry duo, debuted in 2008’s Devil May Cry 4.

A decade on, and a fifth installment has been officially unveiled. First announced at E3 2018 in the form of an action-packed trailer, it features Nero in a brand-new look as he unleashes his vengeance in full form. Then, a hazy release date of Spring 2019 was given, with little to no further specifics to boot.

At Gamescom 2018, Capcom has nailed the launch window to be on March 8, 2019, which is actually sooner than expected. Taking to Twitter to make the announcement as well, the Devil May Cry 5 team also showed off another reel, where Nero displays his combat prowess (pretty cool powers!) and witty attitude against a backdrop of vibrant, beautiful visuals and high-octane action.

With this serving as a direct trailer to Devil May Cry 4, it’d certainly be interesting to see how things will unfold, especially since a time skip is set to occur at the start. In an article by IGN, Capcom expressed their commitment to keeping Nero on the top of his game – both physically and mentally –, alongside a teasing statement about Dante’s wild state, saying that there’s a reason behind so.

Between the above points and the expected 60fps gameplay, fans have plenty to look forward to, including the abilities of Nero’s weaponised robotic arm, the Devil Breaker, and the introduction to the duo’s biggest, most powerful foe.

Devil May Cry 5 will be heading to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 8, 2019
