Nope, this isn’t an early April Fools’ joke. One of the greatest footballers of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo, is set to appear in SNK Corporation’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and is perhaps one of gaming’s most bizarre guest appearances yet.
Announced via the upcoming fighting game’s latest trailer titled CR7 Unleased, Ronaldo has been brought into the game via a comicbook-inspired makeover, sporting a black and red long-sleeve jersey, teal football shorts and red kicks.
Unsurprisingly, Ronaldo’s moveset consists of football-inspired attacks, dribbling and kicking a ball for ranged damage while closing the distance to perform slide tackles or shoulder bashes. Even his command moves are named after relevant sporting terms, with moves like “Headed Clearance”, “Perfect Save”, and “Field Dominator”, with players even able to perform the Footballer’s trademark ‘Siuuu’ celebration when landing a K.O.

According to his character description on SNK’s official game page, Ronaldo uses a mixed fighting style of Football and martial arts, with a blurb that reads: “One of the top football players in the world. He uses his time off to visit South Town to hone his new football skills. The various techniques he has developed playing football make him an unstoppable force, even to seasoned fighters.” Interestingly, Ronaldo’s character isn’t voiced by the Footballer himself, but by voice actor Juan Felipe Sierra instead.
Of course, the Fatal Fury franchise isn’t a stranger to introducing guest fighters in the past, with Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves previously revealing a collaboration with fellow fighting game great Capcom to bring the legendary Street Fighter characters Chun-Li and Ken into the game as part of its Season Pass, but this latest addition surely tops the cake in terms of sheer weirdness.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set for release on 24 April 2025 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
