‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ Film Sequel Sets December 2025 Release

It looks like we won’t have to wait too long for the Five Nights at Freddy’s film adaptation sequel, which now has a December 2025 release date, following Universal’s announcement at CinemaCon that the film would release in late 2025. Josh Hutcherson, who plays protagonist Mike Schmidt, previously said that a sequel was in development, and it looks like production is getting underway.

Director Emma Tammi, who made her debut with the first film, told the Hollywood Reporter in 2023 that “We have some loose ends that I think are going to have to come back in a sequel to be tied up.” And there are plenty of loose threads the film could pick up on, such as the fate of the animatronics in the pizzeria, and Mike Schmidt’s brother’s disappearance.

Of course, what’s a Five Nights at Freddy’s movie without main antagonist William Afton? He’ll likely be back to terrorise a new location as Springtrap, and the franchise has plenty of potential new spots they could explore in a sequel, like the Pizzaplex in Security Breach, or Circus Baby’s Entertainment and Rentals in Sister Location.
