Final Destination will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this month and to celebrate, producer Craig Perry has revealed some new details of the upcoming Final Destinations movie.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Craig revealed that the film will in fact be taking place within the Final Destination universe.
“I’ve been talking to Craig and the concept behind it is unique. I think “reboot” is probably too strong of a word, it makes it sound like they’re going to change everything, but it’s definitely a Final Destination movie,” Perry explained.
“Craig is the master of coming up with crazy openings and set pieces,” he adds. “He’s told me a couple of things that happen in this one and it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s not going feel like cash-grab Final Destination film.”
He also teased the possibility of the film centring around first responders.
“We’re toying with having it take place in the world of first responders: EMTs, firemen and police,” Perry shared. “We rely on their good judgement, expertise and calm demeanour. So why not put those people in the nightmare situation where every choice can bring about life and death – but now for themselves?”
He also teased a death scene, warning “I don’t think anybody will look at a revolving door in the same way again…”
Final Destination is famous for its bizarre and elaborate fatal accidents, from seemingly normal everyday tasks. Such as barbequing for our family, going for a tan in a tanning salon, and even swimming. Nothing is safe to do in the Final Destination universe, Death awaits around every corner.
Now, we can only hope the productions for the upcoming Final Destination film will not get delayed because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
A release date has yet to be given for the film.
