‘Euphoria’ Season 3 (Finally) Begins Filming In January 2025

Fans of HBO’s hit series Euphoria can finally mark their calendars for Season 3 as the show prepares to resume production in January 2025.

After a significant hiatus since its second season, which premiered three years ago, the beloved drama is setting the stage for a dynamic return. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming season will see major cast members like Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney reprising their roles, continuing their characters’ complex narratives.

Euphoria, known for its raw portrayal of teen life, has significantly boosted the careers of its young cast, with many like Zendaya reaching new heights in Hollywood. She won an Emmy in 2020 for her role as Rue and has since starred in major films, including both Dune movies. Schafer has also made waves in the industry, landing roles in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and an upcoming Blade Runner TV series.

The plot for season three remains under wraps but is rumoured to feature a time jump beyond the high school years of the ensemble cast. This narrative leap is part of the creative discussions that have contributed to the delay in filming, which was also impacted by industry-wide strikes in 2023. These delays allowed cast members to explore other significant projects.

Francesca Orsi, Executive VP of HBO Programming, expressed enthusiasm about the series’ return, highlighting the successful collaboration with show creator Sam Levinson and the cast. She stated, “I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January. We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans.”

The series has not only been a platform for rising stars but also a cultural touchstone, drawing in over 16 million viewers in the 90 days following season two’s premiere, trailing only Game of Thrones in HBO’s viewership rankings at the time (House of the Dragon and The Last of Us have now surpassed that number).

The exact premiere date for Euphoria Season 3 is still undecided, but it’s expected not to air before late 2025. This would place the new episodes nearly four years after the last season, setting high expectations for another profound exploration of its characters’ lives.

While fans eagerly anticipate the return of Euphoria with Season 3, its impact continues to resonate, proving the show’s significant mark on contemporary television.
