EA Joins Forces With Lucasfilm Games To Bring 3 New Star Wars Titles From Respawn Entertainment

Just one year ago, Lucasfilm Games announced its rebranding to usher in a new era of Star Wars games. Following that, Ubisoft announced that a new story-driven open-world game is currently under development, Zynga has Star Wars: Hunter Arena coming to mobile devices and Nintendo Switch this year, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is finally coming this April from Warner Games, and even Quantic Dream recently announced that Star Wars Eclipse is under development.

Electronic Arts is clearly not resting on their laurels and just announced not one, but three Star Wars projects in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Respawn Entertainment, best known for their work on Apex Legends, Titanfall and Star War Jedi: Fallen Order, will be leading the development and production of the games.

Game Director Stig Asmussen and his team are already working on the next game in the action-adventure Star Wars Jedi series.

Leading the development of the second all-new Star Wars FPS game is Peter Hirschmann, Game Director at Respawn, who has a long and accomplished history with the Star Wars franchise.

The third title is a Star Wars strategy game developed through a production collaboration with the newly formed studio Bit Reactor, helmed by games industry veteran Greg Foerstch. Respawn will produce the new Star Wars strategy game while Bit Reactor leads on the development of the title.

“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn. They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

Douglas Reilly, VP, Lucasfilm Games

Work has already started on all three Star Wars projects, and Respawn is looking for talent to join the teams. If you want to be part of it all, and have the game dev chops, you might want to check out Respawn’s career page.
