Disney’s summer slate for 2028 is slowly taking shape. After announcing a release window for Incredibles 3, the House of Mouse has firmed it up to 16 June 2028, which would mark a 10-year gap between the 2018 sequel and forthcoming instalment.

Another tentpole title will open three weeks earlier: the follow-up to last year’s live-action Lilo & Stitch, slated for a 26 May 2028 debut, the beginning of the long Memorial Day weekend in the US. No surprise there – the film adaptation grossed US$1.33 billion globally with the same release strategy in 2025, and Disney is certainly keen to recreate the magic once again.
Story details for both movies remain under wraps, but The Incredibles 3 is set to be directed by Peter Sohn (Elemental), taking over the reins from franchise veteran Brad Bird, who serves as a screenwriter and producer on the project. It’s also safe to assume that the major cast members, including Craig T. Nelson as Mr Incredible / Bob Perr, Holly Hunter as Elastigirl / Helen Parr, and Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone, will all reprise their roles.
Released in 2004, the first chapter focuses on a superhero couple who attempt to live a normal suburban life with their three children after the government bans superpowers. The sequel then follows their efforts to restore the public’s trust in masked vigilantes while balancing family life. Collectively, the two instalments racked up more than US$1.8 billion worldwide.

As for the live-action Lilo & Stitch 2, original director and co-creator Chris Sanders has been tapped to write and voice Stitch again. The remake, helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp, became the first out of three Hollywood movies in 2025 to surpass the US$1 billion mark globally.
Sequels, whether live-action or animated, will continue to lead Disney’s slate in the years to come. Some of the highlights for 2026 include The Devil Wears Prada 2, Avengers: Doomsday, and Toy Story 5, while a follow-up to 2017’s Coco is expected to premiere in 2029. That’s not counting the host of undated Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) features and other announced projects, such as Monsters Inc. 3, currently in the pipeline.
