Having just wrapped filming last month, and already landing in theatres in July as the sole Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie release of 2024, Deadpool 3, now titled Deadpool & Wolverine has just unleashed not just a teaser but a full-length trailer during Super Bowl 2024’s opening night.
As can seen in the teaser trailer, Deadpool’s X-Force team is mostly alive and well, Wade Wilson has grown some hair (or a wig rather) and his girlfriend Vanessa is celebrating his birthday with him. That is, until the TVA arrived and it looks like he’s been tasked as “Marvel Jesus” to save the MCU. We were hoping for more Wolverine action and perhaps a glimpse at Hugh Jackman’s mask but alas we were only given a silhouette. But it looks like we’ll just have to wait for the next trailer drop in the coming months.
Marvel Entertainment will be counting on the film to reinvigorate the Marvel movie franchise, after several box office disappointments in recent years, such as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and most recently, The Marvels, which ended up being the lowest grossing MCU movie to date.
So will Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman “Save the whole Marvel Universe” as mentioned by X-Men director Matthew Vaughn (and more recently Argylle)? We won’t have to wait long as Deadpool & Wolverine opens in theatres on 25 July in Singapore and 26 July in the US.
