‘Daredevil’ Creative Reset Brings Netflix Shows Into MCU Continuity

The signs were there all along but maybe we were just too blind to notice but if you’re still wondering if the Netflix Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) shows like Daredevil, The Defenders, and Jessica Jones are considered canon, Echo all but confirmed it. Daredevil: Born Again previously had a creative reset back in 2023, with Dario Scardapane (The Punisher ) coming on board as showrunner and Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Loki, Moon Knight) serving as directors for the series.

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil had a cameo in Echo, which saw the vigilante face off against Maya in a thrilling fight sequence. With their favourite shows being brought into the MCU canon with his appearance, the long-standing internet debate surrounding the Netflix MCU shows has officially concluded. Familiar faces like Foggy and Karen are also set to come back to the MCU in Born Again, which means that bringing back fan favourites like Elektra could be an eventual possibility for the show.

“So we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil, and that’s a great thing,” said Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons. So we now get to start this Born Again situation with all of that history behind us and the outcome of all that history.”

With the original Daredevil show and other Netflix MCU titles now part of the canon, it opens up a wide range of possibilities for future projects.

Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
