‘Watchmen’ Creator Damon Lindelof Reportedly Developing A ‘Star Wars’ Film

Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to in the TV-space. From the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano series to the third season of The Mandalorian and more. But what about movies?

Movie projects from various filmmakers from the likes of Taika Waititi to Kevin Feige have joi, with Patty Jenkins being the only one with a confirmed project. Unfortunately, Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron got shelved in November 2021.

The latest person to be added to the list of potential Star Wars directors is Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof. Lindelof has expressed interest in making a Star Wars film in the past but hasn’t taken many actions towards it after seeing the divisive treatment of J.J. Abrams. However, it seems Lindelof has gotten over that fear.

According to Jeff Sneider via The Ankler, the writer/producer is currently developing a Star Wars movie. Sneider goes on to say in his post that he isn’t aware of the plot of the movie, or if any writers or a director are attached.

Lindelof has yet to confirm nor deny the news, but either way, development may not even come to a full movie experience, as history suggests. Aside from Jenkins’ now shelved Rogue Squadron, a Rian Johnson trilogy is still in limbo and a trilogy from Game of Thrones‘ David Benioff and D.B. Weiss was cancelled.

Perhaps fans should hold off the excitement until something more solid presents itself. Till then, the newest Star Wars content to drop will be Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Ewan McGregor led movie is slated to release on Disney+ on 25 May 2022.
