Sony has given its TV lineup a major update. Last year’s sets didn’t take advantage of next-gen gaming features on the PlayStation 5 but Sony has made it clear that 2021 isn’t going to leave any box unchecked.
Earlier today, Sony’s announced new BRAVIA XR, including the MASTER Series Z9J 8K LED and A90J OLED, as well as the A80J OLED, X95J and X90J 4K LED televisions. The best part is – they let you harness the PlayStation 5’s full potential.
For gamers and proud PlayStation 5 owners, Sony’s new lineup supports 4K at 120Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR), auto low latency and eARC. The lineup’s support for higher resolutions and frame rates is definitely ideal for next-generation gaming, and yes, they do have HDMI 2.1. Compatibility. Hallelujah!
The TVs are powered by the Cognitive Processor XR, a completely new processing method that is designed to replicate the ways humans see and hear. The new system goes beyond traditional signal processing (which Sony’s TVs already excelled at) and beyond the artificial intelligence analysis in most TVs in the market right now.
“While conventional artificial intelligence (AI) can only detect and analyse picture elements like colour, contrast and detail individually, the new processor can cross-analyse an array of elements at once, just as our brains do,” Sony’s press release on the TVs says. “By doing so, each element is adjusted to its best final outcome, in conjunction with each other, so everything is synchronised and lifelike — something that conventional AI cannot achieve.”
The new TVs also incorporate the new Google TV and most impressively, Sound-from-Picture Reality – a feature that aligns the position of the sound with the images on screen, offering you a uniquely lifelike experience when gaming or catching up on your favourites shows and movies.
Prices have yet to be announced, so be sure to keep up with CES 2021 and Sony’s website for prices, launch dates and availability too.
