There is perhaps no better watch brand around that fits with the mecha aesthetics of the Gundam franchise better than Casio’s G-Shock.
Hence, imagine our pleasant surprise when Casio announced the release of their Gundam 40th Anniversary G-Shock series. There will be four watches released, with each watch themed after a different Gundam.
The four watches will be available soon on Casio’s Taobao website and will be shipped out from mid-2019 onwards.
RX-78-2 Gundam G-Shock
No Gundam collaboration will be complete without its titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam, the RX-78-2. The RX-78-2 Gundam G-Shock, which comes in the signature colours of the RX-78-2, will retail for 1,390 Chinese Yuan, or approximately S$280.
MS-06S Char’s Zaku II G-Shock
The mobile suit of Char Aznable from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, it earned the nickname ‘Red Comet’ with its hit and run tactics and its impressive red colours. The MS-06S Char’s Zaku II G-Shock will be on sale for 1,090 Chinese Yuan, or approximately S$220.
RX-0 Unicorn Gundam G-Shock
The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam G-Shock is themed after the RX-O Unicorn Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn when it is in ‘Destroy Mode’, with its pure white body cut with bold red lines, and it will retail for 1,090 Chinese Yuan, or approximately S$220.
RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee G-Shock
The brother unit to the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee was built with the motif of a lion which can be seen in the gold accents on its forehead as well as the gold lights that run through its frame when the Banshee goes into ‘Destroy Mode’. It will retail for 1,690 Chinese Yuan or S$342.
Each watch will also come packaged in an exclusive Haro box, with the X-78-2 Gudam, RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, and Banshee coming in a green Haro box, and Char’s Zaku coming in a Zaku Red Haro storage.
