The night has never been darker, and the stakes have never been higher. Fans of Castlevania: Nocturne have plenty to look forward to as Netflix gears up for the release of Season 2. With a new trailer and teaser images, the streaming giant offers a glimpse into the escalating battle against darkness, as Richter Belmont and his allies face their toughest challenge yet.
“Richter Belmont is done running – this ends now,” the new trailer declares, setting the stage for a season filled with intense confrontations following the explosive finale of Season 1. Joining the fight is the legendary Alucard making his grand return to the Belmont fold. His presence offers a glimmer of hope, yet the Vampire Messiah Erzsebet Báthory remains a formidable foe, reviving her strongest soldier, Drolta, for the looming battle. Meanwhile, Richter and his allies Annette and Maria prepare for an arduous journey, mourning their losses while readying for war.
Season 2 delves deeper into Richter’s transformation from reluctant hero to determined warrior. Fans will witness him wield the signature Belmont whip with precision, honing his skills to battle a new wave of vampiric foes. Alongside Alucard, Maria, and Juste Belmont, the team unites human soldiers and supernatural forces for an all-out assault against Erzsebet’s march on Paris. Powerhouse Animation once again delivers stunning visuals, with the trailer showcasing jaw-dropping battles and dynamic magic-infused fight sequences. From gothic castles to blood-soaked battlefields, the series immerses viewers in its rich, dark atmosphere.
The voice cast includes Edward Bluemel (My Lady Jane) as Richter, James Callis (Castlevania) as Alucard, Pixie Davies (Mary Poppins Returns) as Maria, and Thuso Mbedu (Mufasa: The Lion King) as Annette. Franka Potente (The Bourne Identity) reprises her role as Erzsebet, while Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) and Nastassja Kinski (Stay as You Are) join as Richter’s ancestor Juste Belmont and Maria’s mother Tera, respectively. Directors Samuel and Adam Deats, along with showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde, return to helm this ambitious new chapter.

Though Castlevania: Nocturne has been a critical success, its future remains uncertain. Showrunner Samuel Deats hinted at a potential hiatus on X/Twitter, stating, “For those of you wondering, now that Castlevania: Nocturne S2 is mostly wrapped, we’re going on hiatus until release and we find out if we’re getting renewed. It goes without saying, but if you want to see more shows of Castlevania quality, please support S2 when it releases!”
While the series awaits confirmation for a third season, the creative team assures fans that this chapter will deliver an unforgettable conclusion — if it proves to be the final one.
Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 premieres 16 January on Netflix.
