Bring Ghibli To Your Living Room With Totoro House And Soot Sprite Cushions

Studio Ghibli’s latest line of plushies combines iconic art with everyday utility in a delightful range of cushions inspired by beloved characters and elements from My Neighbor Totoro and other Ghibli classics. Ghibli specialty shop, Donguri Kyowakoku, has launched an exquisite collection of cushions, perfect for fans seeking both style and comfort.

The standout piece is the Totoro House Cushion, designed to resemble Mei and Satsuki’s charming country home. While it simplifies the intricate details of the animated house for practicality, it retains the enchanting colour scheme and architectural essence, making it an appealing addition to any setting. This cushion, measuring 30 centimetres in length, not only serves as a nostalgic throwback but also as a functional backrest or decorative pillow.

Complementing the Totoro theme, the Soot Sprite cushion offers a softer, more compact option, ideal for smaller spaces or as a charming desk accessory. With dimensions of 21 by 26 centimetres, this smaller cushion features the playful spirit of the Soot Sprites.

These cushions are part of Donguri Kyowakoku’s “die-cut cushion” series, which also includes previously released designs featuring other Ghibli characters like the small Totoro, Catbus, and Spirited Away’s No Face. Each cushion in the series is equipped with a zipper, allowing for easy removal and cleaning of the cover — a thoughtful feature for items likely to see frequent use.

Priced at 4,180 yen (S$37.79) for the Totoro House and 3,850 yen (S$34.80) for the die-cut cushions, these items merge collectable art with functional home décor, making them a sensible, joyful investment for Ghibli enthusiasts.

In other Ghibli enthusiast-related news, The World Of Studio Ghibli exhibition in Singapore at the ArtScience Museum runs from 4 October 2024 to 2 February 2025, promising an unforgettable experience for both longtime enthusiasts and new fans alike.
