Gideon Jura is essentially the planeswalker version of the pure-hearted boy scout. Brandon Routh played the Big Blue Boy Scout in Superman Returns (2006). It’s quite fitting then, for Routh to voice Gideon in Netflix’s upcoming Magic: The Gathering animated series.
This casting decision was announced during Wizard of the Coast’s Magic Showcase 2021 stream. It was also announced that the scripts for the series have been finalised, and the first season has already been recorded by the principal actors.
Originally helmed by Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame), due to creative differences, Netflix has gotten Jeff Kline (Jackie Chan Adventures, Transformers: Prime) to take the lead.
Fans of Magic: The Gathering will definitely not want to miss this animated series, and it is also made out to be a friendly jumping-on point for people with no prior experience or knowledge in the franchise as well.
With the first season premiering in the second half of 2022, this is one upcoming series that is whetting our appetites.
