Rapturous applause or frustrated groans? An image of the next BioShock game has reportedly leaked online, but it sadly doesn’t reveal much.
MP1ST shared an image from the showreel of a visual effects artist at 2K. According to them, the image is from a 2021 demo build, so it might not reflect the final game and could be outdated.
The image shows the first-person shooter perspective fans expect, a basic user interface, and a ‘Ricochet Shotgun.’ There are also icons for BioShock-style plasmid powers, including one that looks like an electricity bolt and another that resembles a stopwatch, possibly indicating time manipulation powers.
The character in the image faces a burning orb on a pedestal. Another important thing to note is that the codename “Parkside” is visible, which aligns with a 2019 Kotaku report and a recent Epic Game Store leak.
2K announced the new BioShock in 2019, developed by Cloud Chamber. It’s set in a “new and fantastical world,” so don’t expect a return to Rapture or Columbia from the original games. Original BioShock chief Ken Levine isn’t involved, as he’s now working on Judas with his new studio, Ghost Story Games.
Fans of the BioShock series are eager for more details, but this leak leaves much to the imagination. With no clear indication of what to expect, the anticipation for BioShock 4 continues to build.
