Bethesda’s ‘Starfield’ Delayed Again, Will Now Drop In September With June Showcase

If you thought the gameplay snippets shown off from Starfield meant that the game was on track to hit its initial release date, think again. After setting the release window for the first half of 2023, a new delay for Starfield sees Bethesda‘s new IP pushed to a new launch date of 6 September.

Releasing an official launch date announcement trailer that made clear the delay, Todd Howard shared more about Starfield and what we can expect to see in the coming months. “We have poured ourselves into this game and even I’m surprised how much we can pour. It is large. We’re playing the game all the time,” he said.

A deep dive into the game will happen on 11 June, with the delay likely providing the Starfield developers more time to polish off what could be a true AAA blockbuster title that will be an Xbox console exclusive. The timing also lines up with Phil Spencer’s tease that Xbox would have something big to show off around E3 2023.

“There’s so much that we still have to show you. The game has many of the hallmarks that you’d expect from us, but it’s also a very unique experience,” Howard continued.

Originally set to launch on 11 November 2022, the new delay for Starfield will hopefully see it arrive in players’ hands this 6 September on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Redfall, another of Bethesda’s titles, will arrive on 2 May as well to keep you busy until Starfield launches, that is, if you are into supernatural shooters that target vampires.
