Camouflaj and Oculus Studios’ VR-exclusive brawler Batman: Arkham Shadow looks to be just the start of the Caped Crusader’s adventure, as Commissioner Gordon voice actor Mark Rolston has revealed that a sequel is in the works.

This came from a recent interview with Culture Combine, where Rolston spoke on his other iconic roles, such as PFC. Drake in the 1986 film Aliens and Bogs Diamond in 1994’s The Shawshank Redemption. When it came to his roles in video games, he spoke on the differences when approaching games like 1997’s Blade Runner, where he only did voice capture, versus the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, where he did both voice work and motion capture for his character, Norman Osborn.
“In the Blade Runner game, I was a voiceover, but for Spider-Man, I do complete motion capture, voice, and everything.” Rolston explained, before sneakily dropping the huge Batman: Arkham Shadow sequel reveal by adding, “Same thing with the Batman Arkham Shadow VR game. We’re about to start another one of those. I play Commissioner Gordon.”

Released exclusively on the Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S on 21 October 2024, Batman: Arkham Shadow brought the iconic stealth and melee combat of the Arkham franchise to the VR space, and followed the story of a younger, more inexperienced Batman as he tries to stop a villain known as the Rat King from destroying Gotham on the Fourth of July.
The game received a largely positive reception upon launch, and was praised for its intuitive first-person brawler combat that translated well from the Arkham games, even going on to win numerous awards, including Best AR/VR Game at The Game Awards 2024, the Coney Island Dreamland Award for Best AR/VR Game at the New York Game Awards 2024 and Immersive Reality Game of the Year at the 28th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards in 2025.
