‘Avengers: Doomsday’ X-Men Trailer Reunites Old Enemies & Displays Cyclops’ Rage

The new trailers for next year’s much-anticipated Marvel epic Avengers: Doomsday just keep coming, as following previous teasers spotlighting the return of Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, and Thor, a third has now been released, this time marking the long-awaited return of the X-Men.

Professor X and Magneto in X-Men (2000)

Once again shown before select screenings of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash, the trailer opens with a scene from what appears to be the empty halls of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, as Sir Ian Murray McKellen’s Magneto narrates the voiceover, “Death comes for us all, that’s all I know for sure. The question isn’t are you prepared to die, the question is who would you be when you close your eyes.”

The scene then shifts to a shot of Professor X’s (Sir Patrick Stewart) iconic wheelchair, before transitioning to a scene of him and Magneto playing a game of chess. If this wasn’t enough to stir excitement for the return of the X-Men, the next scene certainly did, as it teased a scene of a raging Cyclops (James Marsden) blasting a visorless optic blast straight up into the sky before the trailer cuts to the all too familiar “The X-Men will return in Avengers: Doomsday“.

While brief, the trailer certainly teases tragedy to come for not just the good folks of the X-Men, but its wider hero cast as well. While not shown in the latest trailer, other members of the X-Men also set to make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday are Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique, and Channing Tatum’s Gambit.

With three trailers out of the way, it remains to be seen what other surprise teases Avengers: Doomsday has in store for fans ahead of its release on 18 December 2026. We know a dedicated trailer for Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will likely make an appearance, but with such a stacked hero (and villain) cast, who will show up next is anyone’s guess.
