ASUS Zenbook Duo Redefines Dual-Screen Laptops As Ultimate Multitasking Machine

Every pixel counts in screen technology but so do the number of displays when it comes to multitasking. While more real estate means more room for displaying content and making it easy to work across different windows, tabs, and apps at the same time, it’s not the same with a laptop.

ASUS changed the game with the Zenbook Pro Duo 14 OLED that elevated the cross-screen experience by pairing a second display with a 14.5-inch touchscreen panel, and now, the Zenbook Duo (2024) will double down on that productivity element – quite literally.

Like its predecessor, the Zenbook Duo boasts two screens but unlike it, both are now full-sized 14-inch OLED displays. That’s just the start, however, as the twin-screen powerhouse offers other nifty features including a slim, lightweight build, a detachable keyboard, and an enduring battery life.

While the basic laptop design remains unchanged, ASUS is redefining what consumers can do with a multitasking machine in the Zenbook Duo.

1) Different modes for workflow flexibility

The Zenbook Duo is purpose-designed to be many things to different users and versatility is on the top of that list, as it can be adapted for various use-case scenarios to offer the most optimal experience. Dual-screen mode, for instance, reduces interruptions by eliminating the need for constant window and tab-switching, but also allows the lower screen to be configured as a full-size virtual keyboard.

When work calls, simply switch to sharing mode. The expanded canvas facilitates content sharing during meetings and presentations, as the device’s flat-lying position makes the screens more viewable to participants. Say goodbye to tight huddling and hello to more comfortable and engaging discussions.

Meanwhile, those who often work with vertical spaces can turn to desktop mode, which uses a portrait orientation. Ideal for displaying long form content, it groups productivity apps on one screen, and research materials, documentation, and the like on the other.

Where there’s a desktop mode, a laptop alternative will follow. The Zenbook Duo ships with an ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad that when connected, offers a traditional laptop-style experience.

2) Typing ease with a detachable full-sized keyboard

A virtual, onscreen keyboard works in a pinch, but few things can beat the tactile feeling of a physical one. The ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard bridges the gap with a pogo pin connection, allowing users to snap it on or off easily and enjoy full-sized functionality on the side. Notable features include an emoji hotkey, a quiet typing experience, and anti-fingerprint touchpad, as well as an adjustable built-in kickstand for multiple viewing angles. It’s typing made convenient, applicable for any use case.

3) High performance anywhere, anytime

Double the displays, double the performance. Armed with two 14-inch 3K OLED touchscreens, the Zenbook Duo promises a 120Hz refresh rate and a 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. Essentially, images are sharp and colour-accurate – an important prerequisite for creative professionals who range from photographers to illustrators and more. There’s more visual glory to expect as well, including deep blacks, crisp detail, and a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.

The hardware proves to be equally intensive as the ultraportable can run up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, 1TB of SSD, and up to 32GB of RAM, with its dedicated NPU packing an extra dose of AI enhancement. More impressively, all of that power is contained within a 14.6mm-thin, 1.35kg chassis, so users can travel light and still reap the benefits of its multitasking prowess everywhere they go.

4) Enhanced durability that pays off in the long run

As with all its laptops, the company’s latest delivers the ASUS guarantee in the form of military-grade toughness. The proof is in the test, which puts a machine through simulated harsh environmental conditions, such as extreme altitudes, temperatures, and humidity. Between that and the physical vibration and shock tests designed to mimic rough day-to-day handling, there’s no need to worry about its longevity.

5) Long-lasting battery for on-the-go productivity

Doing work on the go is easy with the Zenbook Duo’s lightweight build, but that brings up an all-too-familiar concern: battery life. With a 75-watt capacity, the dual-screen laptop is built to last up to eight hours on a single charge, with its fast-charging capabilities reaching a 60 percent charge level in 49 minutes.

Starting at S$2,999, the Zenbook Duo represents the elevation of multitasking and day-to-day productivity. The laptop’s unique brand of cross-screen workflow combines efficiency with portability, teasing tantalising potential that conventional laptops are otherwise unable to nurture.

Versatility is, once again, king, and ASUS has proven itself the rightful owner of the crown.
