‘Tis the season to be extra jolly, as this year’s Game of the Year contender Astro Bot is getting some festive cheer in the form of the upcoming Winter Wonder update, gift-wrapping a brand new level filled with shiny surprises to discover.
Developer Team Asobi teased the new Winter Wonder level on the PlayStation Blog , which will appear after players have completed the main game and provide “shiny presents, a good dose of jingle bells, and brand-new special bots to add to your crew.”
While exact details, such as the identity of the new bots, are kept as a surprise, the studio has clarified that the level is designed to be enjoyed by children and adults alike, and thus will not be as challenging as some of the other optional side adventures currently in the game, such as the hidden PlayStation face-button challenges that ramped up the difficulty from an otherwise chill experience.
It’s heartening to see that the title is getting such post-launch content to welcome players back into its charming aesthetic and addictive gameplay loop. This latest update seems to be the one previously hinted at in early September this year, and if so, let’s hope that Eve from Stellar Blade or Ezio from Assassin’s Creed will make their debut in bot form.
Astro Bot’s Winter Wonder update will go live on 12 December 6 pm PT (13 December 10 am SGT).
