Apple MacBook Air M3 (2024) Gaming Test: Exploring Valkyrie Action In ‘Honkai Impact 3rd’

Apple’s M-series of chips has equipped the tech giant with extra oomph to push into the gaming market, but the M3 upgrade is looking to pack even more of a punch. Fitted into the latest 15-inch MacBook Air, it touts up to a 60 percent increase in speed over the MacBook Air with M1 chip, as well as a faster and more efficient Neural Engine.

The soaped-up outfit is joined by various performance features, including hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, for deeper immersion — a visual experience that’s accentuated on Apple’s leading Liquid Retina display. Running on a whole load of horsepower, the MacBook Air M3 is ready to prove its mettle in the gaming ring with three titles: Honkai Impact 3rd, Baldur’s Gate, and Metro Exodus.

While HoYoverse’s popular action RPG has been out for a few years now, it was recently added to Apple Arcade following the release of its massive Part 2 expansion, presenting a timely testing option. The latter two titles, unavailable on the platform, will offer a more comprehensive look at non-native performance on Steam.
