AMD’s RDNA4-Powered Radeon RX 9000 Series And FSR4 Tackle 4K Gaming Under US$600

AMD has unveiled its latest line-up of graphics cards, the Radeon RX 9000 series, equipped with its new RDNA 4 architecture and the AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4) upscaler for affordable 4K gaming, with a global release date of 6 March 2025.

Powered by its latest RDNA 4 architecture, which leverages both second-generation AI accelerators and third-gen raytracing accelerators to make it 40% faster than its previous iteration, AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards promise a substantial performance upgrade without breaking the bank.

With 56 of its latest RDNA 4 compute units and clocked at 2.54 GHz, the Radeon RX 9070 offers up to 1165 tera operations per second (TOPS) of AI-enhanced performance, and AMD claims that it provides an average of 21% faster gaming compared to its previous RX 7900 GRE GPU at 4K Ultra settings, with its big brother, the Radeon RX 9070 XT, bumping it up a notch with 64 RDNA 4 compute units, a 2.97 GHz clock and 1557 TOPS to offer a 42% average 4K gaming performance improvement compared to the RX 7900 GRE.

Alongside the latest GPUs, AMD will also be upgrading their HYPR-RX in-driver performance booster, introducing the latest version of their proprietary frame generation feature, AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1, in their latest driver update, promising to deliver almost triple the performance across thousands of supported games when paired with the power of its new GPUs.

Lastly, AMD also showcased a deeper look at its hotly anticipated FSR4 in-game upscaler, developed to make full use of the RDNA 4 architecture. Using the AI power afforded by its latest Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs, FSR4 utilises machine learning upscaling not only to provide a substantial performance uplift, but AMD also claims that it can use AI to not only match native image quality even on its performance mode, but surpass it in certain situations using reconstruction. FSR4 will support over 30 games at launch such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Dynasty Warriors: Origins, with additional support for over 75 titles coming throughout 2025.

AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 Series GPUs will launch on 6 March 2025, with the RX 9070 prices starting at US$549 and the RX 9070 XT starting at US$599.
