Everyone’s favourite girl is finally hitting HBO Max. The adult animated Harley Quinn series on DC Universe is following Doom Patrol‘s footsteps and is going to start streaming all two seasons on HBO Max starting 1 August 2020.
Voiced by The Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco, season 1 of Harley Quinn follows the maiden of mischief on her quest to join the Legion of Doom – a group of supervillains – after her breakup with the Joker. We know, the synopsis sounds like Birds Of Prey, but this series will instead see Quinn interact with her best friend Poison Ivy.
For the uninitiated, after the Joker and Quinn called it quits, Quinn and Ivy are not just partners in crime but also have a romantic relationship with one another. It’s a complicated relationship with Ivy being married, but if anything, Harley Quinn has been praised for being a series that is a masterclass for navigating relationships.
Season 2 then picks things up after Gotham City became isolated from the rest of the country, following the arc of Batman: No Man’s Land. Quinn then tries to claim Gotham for herself – inspiring the creation of Batgirl.
With Harley Quinn moving to HBO Max, it appears that HBO Max might just bring on more shows from DC Universe to their platform. Whilst the finale for season 2 of the animated series just released last month on 26 June 2020, showrunners have hinted at a season 3 renewal. The official date is still elusive as of now.
DC Universe’s Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco, Lake Bell, Diedrich Bader, Alan Tudyk, Rahul Kohli, Christopher Meloni, Tony Hale, Ron Funches, Wanda Sykes, Natalie Morales, Jim Rash, Giancarlo Esposito, Jason Alexander and J.B. Smoove. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on DC Universe and will arrive on HBO Max 1 August 2020.
