‘Alien: Earth’ Renewed For Second Season On Disney+

The Xenomorph terror is far from over, as FX has announced that the Disney+ prequel sci-fi series Alien: Earth has been renewed for a second season following a new deal between the American pay television channel, Disney Entertainment, and series creator Noah Hawley.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on Season Two is set to begin in London next year, although no estimated release window has been announced. Following Season One’s cliffhanger ending, Alien Earth’s second chapter will no doubt provide some resolution to its narrative, possibly bridging the gap between the prequel and the first Alien film.

“I had to plan and execute a story that’s going someplace,” Hawley told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview regarding his plans for Season Two, “And then, this whole thing is a proof-of-concept experiment to see if enough people on the planet want to watch an Alien TV show to justify the expense of a second and third season of an Alien TV show… This is not a closed-ended season. This chapter is closed, but Yutani troops are landing. The balance of power has shifted. These children have no idea what’s coming.”

Released on Disney+ on 12 August 2025, Alien: Earth marked the first television series in the franchise and is set two years before the events of 1979’s Alien. The show follows the crew of a deep-space research vessel named the USCSS Maginot, which crash-lands on Earth, leading to them coming face-to-face with extraterrestrial threats.

The cast of Alien: Earth Season One includes Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling), Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World), Samuel Blenkin (The Witcher: Blood Origin), Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood), and Babou Ceesay (Severance) as Wendy, Joe Hermit, Boy Kavalier, Kirsh, and Morrow, respectively. The show was helmed by Hawley, who also served as its executive producer alongside Ridley Scott, the filmmaker behind the original movie.
