‘Alien: Earth’ Is The Official Title For FX’s New Series

FX’s highly anticipated Alien series has officially been titled Alien: Earth, announced by network boss John Landgraf and showrunner Noah Hawley.

Alien: Earth serves as a prequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien, which kicked off a franchise now comprised of eight films. Alongside Hawley’s series, a new film titled Alien: Romulus is also set to debut later this summer.

Landgraf, in an interview about where he talked about Fargo, The Bear, Shogun, and FX’s other Emmy-nominated shows, said that he’s already thinking about the future of the show.

“We’re pretty bullish on Alien: Earth and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, Alien: Earth is a returning television series, we want him to focus on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo,” he said.

The prequel series stars Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, David Rysdahl, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille, and Adrian Edmondson.

Although he’s been working on it for a few years, Noah Hawley’s long-promised Alien TV show has been perpetually shrouded in secrecy. Previously, Hawley did let slip that the show would primarily be “Earth-based,” and now its official title is here to confirm that.

There’s no word yet on when Alien: Earth will be released at FX, but we’re hoping something comes soon. In the meantime, there’s Alien: Romulus to look forward to, which releases 16 August.
