After two seasons and 16 episodes and counting, the stage is set for an all-out war in Middle-earth. Ahead of its 11 November premiere, Amazon Prime Video has dropped a new trailer for Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, set several years after the sophomore season and picking up at the height of the War of the Elves.
The clip shows the evil forces of Charlie Vickers’ Sauron, including proto-Ringwraiths, dragons, and orcs, wreaking havoc as Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), and Gandalf (Daniel Weyman) rally against the onslaught and navigate the web of romance. “I see the path to victory so certain. I will take my place as a conqueror, a sorcerer. A king. We have work to do,” says the Dark Lord, who’s seen claiming the One Ring at the end, allowing him to bind the entire Middle-earth population to his will.
In J.R.R. Tolkien’s world, the War of the Elves occurred during the Second Age of Middle-earth, marking the first major battle against Sauron that leads to the War of the Last Alliance, the backdrop for Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels and Peter Jackson’s film adaptation.
The logline reads, “All the peoples of Middle-Earth are engaged in the heroic struggle against Sauron and his army of Orcs. His terrifying Ring-servants, the Nazgnagôl, roam Middle-Earth clad in black armour as tensions rise among the Elves trying desperately to hold the front lines; familial ties are strained among the Dwarves in Khazad-dûm; political factions push the island kingdom of Númenor to the brink of civil war; and in the eastern lands of Rhûn, Gandalf enlists his full powers of magic and persuasion as he fights to turn the tide of impending darkness.”

Season 3 of The Rings of Power is produced by showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, who also executive produce alongside Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and director Charlotte Brändström. Simon Pegg will voice Balrog, joining Stranger Things star Jamie Campbell Bower, Eddie Marsan, Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla, and Adam Young as newcomers. Other returning cast members include Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Robert Strange, and Markella Kavenagh.
The first four episodes debut on 11 November, followed by another two on 18 November, then the final two on 25 November.
