The Mystery Machine is becoming more than meets the eye, as Hasbro has unveiled a collaborative Transformers set based on the iconic Scooby-Doo cartoon franchise, with the mash-up comprising two transforming figures, Mysterious Prime and Automutt.
Priced at US$57.99, the set is now available for pre-orders on Hasbro Pulse and features a two-in-one box set based on the iconic cast of the cartoon. First up is Mysterious Prime, which like its name suggests, transforms between a robot and the Mystery Machine, the van used by Mystery Inc. In robot form, the figure also includes four swappable heads based on the cartoon’s main characters, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma, with additional orange and green ascot accessories for Fred and Daphne as seen in the cartoon.
Mystery Prime’s robot mode also includes two other equipable accessories, a camera and what seems to be a loudhailer of sorts. Transformation seems to be on the more simplistic side with only 19 steps, although the figure does feature some kibble on its legs and back, which comprises the side panels and door of its vehicle form.
Of course, the iconic Great Dane of the franchise, Scooby-Doo himself, has also seen some love here, getting his own dedicated figure, albeit a simpler one, in the form of Automutt, which converts from a robot to a Scooby Snacks box in six steps. His inclusion does seem like an afterthought, however, as Automutt’s robot form looks less like an actual dog and more like an unfolded box with dog parts, which is slightly disappointing considering that Hasbro already had prior experience with similar transformation styles with its Transformers Studio Series Core Class Ravage, so it’s strange that it didn’t repurpose the mould for this set instead.
As a package, the two figures still look decent considering the set’s price point, and would serve as a good novelty addition for Transformers collectors or fans of the Scooby-Doo franchise. The Transformers Scooby-Doo Mysterious Prime & Automutt is expected to be released sometime in September 2026.
