Another month, another massive State of Play showcase by PlayStation, and this time, it’s a big one, offering extended looks at highly anticipated games like Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine and Crystal Dynamics’ Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Apart from fresh gameplay for previously announced titles, the showcase also made room for some surprising reveals, including Santa Monica Studio’s showstopper, God of War Laufey, and Ubisoft’s Rayman Legends Retold.
Here’s a recap of everything announced at PlayStation’s State of Play for June 2026:
God of War Laufey
Let’s start off with the big one, and boy, did this come out of nowhere. Santa Monica Studio is continuing its excellent God of War reboot franchise, and for its next entry, will shine the spotlight on Laufey (Faye), the departed wife of protagonist Kratos, as she ventures into the afterlife of the gods to save the ones she loves. It was a pretty substantial reveal, too, with a lengthy gameplay segment featuring Faye’s much more nimble combat style reminiscent of the original God of War games, as she dispatches foes with her legendary sword and its guardia, Rue, her blocky companion Frank, and the Golden Hand of the Jötnar, the powerful magic of the Giants, which she can use to manipulate souls. God of War Laufey will release exclusively on the PS5.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Here’s another title that proves PlayStation is the king of exclusives, as Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine has received an extended gameplay look, offering a better glimpse at what players can expect from the hyper-violent superhero hack-and-slash title. Apart from witnessing more of Logan ripping through foes with his adamantium claws, the trailer also reveals some of the friends and foes he will encounter, including the telekinetic Jean Grey, Sabretooth, Mystique, and Omega Red. Marvel’s Wolverine will launch exclusively on the PS5 on 15 September 2026.
Rayman Legends Retold
Ubisoft’s iconic platforming hero, Rayman, is back, and he’s entering the third dimenson. Rayman Legends Retold is a 3D reimagining of the 2013 title that brings not just a new 2.5D art style, but also fresh content, including 3D dragon riding sequences, fully voiced characters, and a mysterious new realm, all playable in four-player couch co-op. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Crystal Dynamics is returning to the roots of its legendary adventurer, Lara Croft, as Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, the fully-fledged remake of the original 1996 video game, is set to launch for the modern gaming generation on 12 February 2027, and she has never looked better. The game has received its first gameplay trailer, offering a sneak peek at its reimagined visuals, puzzles, and most importantly, its revamped dinosaurs, which Lara will face armed with her iconic dual pistols.
Until Dawn 2
The classic narrative horror title Until Dawn is getting a sequel, and this time it’s being developed by Firesprite Games. This standalone experience will feature a brand new cast of ghost hunters as they head to an abandoned tropical island to shoot a TV series, only for things to spiral into madness. What’s more, Peter Stormare will also make a return as the enigmatic Dr Hill. The game will release sometime in 2027.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve
Strap in, Ace pilot, as Bandai Namco’s aerial combat sim sequel, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, will take flight on 2 October 2026, promising a new campaign and updated gameplay mechanics, including a new “Cloudly” weather engine, a destruction-based chain reaction system, and dogfights against massive foes.
Bancho The Chef
The 2022 indie hit Dave the Diver is getting a standalone prequel, and now, it’s Bancho’s time to shine. Players will take on the role of the quirky chef in this cooking sim meets global-trotting RPG, preparing meals to satisfy customers while also raising the restaurant’s reputation, playing a part in its day-to-day by partaking in activities like fishing, cleaning, and taking on all manner of cooking requests as they steadily build their culinary empire.
Control Resonant
Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming action role-playing game, Control Resonant, has received a new story trailer, offering a look at its warped version of Manhattan. In the centre of it all is Dylan Faden, the sister of Control protagonist Jesse and the wielder of a new shapeshifting weapon, the Aberrant. While Dylan is the sole protagonist this time around, this doesn’t mean that his sister won’t show up, as Jesse plays an important role too, shaping his path and propelling their shared story forward. Control Resonant will launch on 24 September 2026.
Dune Awakening
Dune: Awakening, the open-world survival game set in the iconic sci-fi universe, is making its way to consoles, with a definitive version of the 2025 title that brings a brand new single-player mode, a new chapter in its cinematic storyline, and a host of other improvements. The game will arrive on consoles on 22 September 2026.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered
It’s time to slash through thousands of foes once more, as the 2001 hack-and-slash game, Dynasty Warriors 3, is getting a modern remaster, which also packages both the base game and the contents of its Xtreme Legends expansion. Players can get their Musou action on once more when Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered arrives on 1 October 2026.
Marathon Season 2
Bungie’s live-service shooter Marathon has received its second season, adding tons of new changes to Tau Ceti IV, including a new nighttime survival horror map, the Dire Marsh, a new Sentinel defensive shell, and a revamped progression system in the form of the Cradle.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls
Arc System Works’ fighting game, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, continues to expand its roster, as the studio has now unveiled its fourth team, the Knights of Doom, which comprises Dr Doom alongside three newly revealed characters – Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage. The game will be a console exclusive for the PS5, and will launch on 6 August 2026.
ILL
Team Clout’s brutal first-person survival horror game, ILL, has received another gory trailer, showcasing more of its satisfying dismemberment system as players try to survive against a relentless horde of monstrocities, including showing off more of the terrifying giant foes that players will encounter. What was once thought to be a hoax is now steadily creeping towards reality, as the game will launch sometime in 2027.
Kemuri
Unseen, the Tokyo-based studio led by internet darling Ikumi Nakamura, former creative director for Tango Gameworks’ Ghostwire: Tokyo, has unveiled its new project, Kemuri. In this stylish supernatural adventure, players will confront the paranormal as they explore a sprawling vertical city alone or in online co-op with up to two other players, forming contracts with powerful yokai to harness new abilities and cool outfits. The game will launch on the PS5 and PC sometime in 2027.
No Rest for the Wicked 1.0
Moon Studios’ Souls-like isometric RPG, No Rest for the Wicked, is finally exiting early access and is also heading to consoles, bringing its visceral action to a wider player base. Players can experience the game in its entirety, including tons of new weapons, bosses, and enemies, alongside a completely overhauled class system, when the game’s 1.0 version launches on PC and consoles in October 2026.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Ahead of Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s launch, the game has received a demo, and best of all, it’s available right now, allowing players a taste of its immensely satisfying combat and parry systems. The demo will feature around 30 minutes of the early story content, and let players familiarise themselves with its many intricate gameplay systems like Parry, Deflect, Issen, Oni Armament, and, of course, absorbing souls. The game has also received its official release date, and it isn’t too far away either, as it will launch on 25 September 2026.
Phantom Blade Zero
Here’s another game with a satisfying combat system, and this time it’s S-GAME’s Phantom Blade Zero. The high-octane slasher has received a new gameplay look and will headline a dedicated State of Play later this summer, which will fully delve into its gameplay mechanics ahead of its launch on 29 October 2026.
Silent Hill Townfall
It’s time to experience the horrifying fog from a brand-new perspective, as Konami’s Silent Hill: Townfall takes the franchise to the first-person genre. As the new protagonist, Simon, players will venture into the foggy streets of St. Amelia and survive against all manner of new threats, including a mysterious creature that stalks him in the darkness of the Otherworld. Expect all the same puzzles, psychological horrors, and brutal combat fans can expect from the franchise when the game launches on 24 September 2026.
Stuntman: Hollywood
Ever want to feel what it’s like to be a stunt driver in Hollywood? Well, now you can, as Stuntman: Hollywood brings vehicular mayhem inspired by TV and movie racing greats. As a stunt performer, players will drive through multiple levels split into “film episodes”, with each providing its own unique vehicle and gameplay twists, such as the ability to sit in the driver’s seat of film icons like the DeLorean from Back to the Future or K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider.
The Lost Wild
What’s better than a survival horror game? A survival horror game with dinosaurs! Annapurna Interactive and Great Ape Games have unveiled their upcoming title, The Lost Wild, which thrusts players onto an island teeming with prehistoric dangers. Players can choose either to take on the beasts or escape them, as they find out what happens when they are no longer at the top of the food chain.
