Fans of old-school superhero arcade games are in for a treat, as Limited Run Games and Konami have announced Marvel MaXimum Collection, a game that bundles six classic arcade titles into one convenient package, bringing hit titles of yesteryear’s consoles to a new generation.
The collection will include six Marvel titles across 13 versions spanning consoles like the Game Boy, Game Gear, NES, Sega Genesis, and the Super NES, in addition to the original arcade versions, with a full rundown of the titles included in Marvel MaXimum Collection as follows:
- X-Men: The Arcade Game (Arcade)
- Captain America and The Avengers (Arcade, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, NES)
- Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage (Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive)
- Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety (Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive)
- Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge (Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Gear)
- Silver Surfer (NES)

While most of the titles above are co-op brawlers, Limited Run Games has only confirmed multiplayer support for X-Men: The Arcade Game so far, with the title receiving 6-player online co-op with rollback netcode. Each game will also receive save states and rewind abilities, meaning players might actually be able to beat some of the collection’s more notoriously difficult games, such as Silver Surfer, this time around.
In addition, Marvel MaXimum Collection will also include modernised features, such as the choice between modern display options or the classic CRT look, a music player to play soundtracks from each of the titles, and a digital archive featuring high-resolution scans of original box arts, instruction manuals, and advertisements.

While the release date for Marvel MaXimum Collection hasn’t been announced, the game will be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC.
