Dreamhaven, the studio founded by ex-Blizzard boss Mike Morhaime, has revealed an update on its upcoming cooperative tabletop-inspired adventure Sunderfolk, which is set to release on 23 April 2025.
First unveiled back in October last year, the four-player turn-based adventure developed by Dreamhaven subsidiary Secret Door received its second trailer during a studio showcase hosted by The Game Awards on 25 March, showcasing additional gameplay details and announcing its release next month.
The game’s latest trailer shows off more of its unique mobile app-controlled gameplay, an interesting diversion from the usual controller style. This way, the game replicates the classic tabletop experience but in a digital, streamlined way designed to be approachable for newcomers to the genre.
“As longstanding tabletop gaming fans, we at Secret Door know all too well how difficult it can be to get new players together for a shared experience. Learning rules, perceived complexity, and setup times can create challenges for playing with our loved ones,” explained Secret Door studio head Chris Sigaty. “Our goal with Sunderfolk is to leverage modern technology to make game night something everyone can enjoy.”

“At its core, Sunderfolk is about the joy of playing together – laughter, strategy, and making memories. Just like the tabletop games that inspired it, Sunderfolk creates lasting bonds between friends and family with each session,” he added.
Both Dreamhaven’s Morhaime and Secret Door’s Sigaty trace their game development roots back to Blizzard, with the former known for his work on World of Warcraft and the latter for StarCraft II and Warcraft III. Formed in 2020, Dreamhaven’s proverbial family tree comprises Secret Door alongside sister studio Moonshot, with other Blizzard alumni spread out among each studio’s ranks.
Sunderfolk is shaping up to be a unique experience that’s right up the alley for tabletop gaming fans looking for a digital alternative and will release on 23 April 2025 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
