Xiaomi Unveils The Pad 5 As It Attempts To Offer Apple Competition

Xiaomi, the Chinese electronics giant, has launched its new tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 5, alongside a range of Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) products such as the Mi Smart Projector 2, Xiaomi Mesh System AX3000 (2-Pack), and Mi Smart Band 6 NFC.

As the hybrid work environment becomes commonplace, people are clamouring for better tablets which are more robust and versatile workhorses that can double as devices for entertainment and recreation. The Xiaomi Pad 5 is the Chinese company’s entry into the tablet battle royale.

The tablet features a 13MP single back camera that can scan documents, Xiaomi Smart Pen compatibility, an 11-inch WQHD+ 120Hz display, Low Blue Light mode, Dolby Atmos immersive audio, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 processor.

It’s an older processor hence the device’s more affordable price tag. Right now, how it stacks up against Apple’s new iPads might be a case of bringing a knife to a gunfight. After all, Apple’s superior app ecosystem is a strong back to be locked into iOS.

To complement the flexibility of the tablet, Xiaomi also launched a bevy of products that allows the home to double as a workstation in an even more effective manner. The star of the show, however, remains on the Xiaomi Pad 5. The tablet market is definitely one to keep a lookout for, as brands inch ever closer to the top dog, Apple, while they try to maintain their lead by widening the gap.

The Xiaomi Pad 5 comes in two colours – Cosmic Gray and Pearl White, with prices starting from EUR 349.
