We Just Watched Ghostbusters: Afterlife And Can’t Stop Smiling

If you intend to revive and revitalise a popular movie franchise that fans love and fondly remember, and still revere as one of the greatest movie duology, who are you gonna call?

For Ghostbusters fans, there’s only one person – Jason Reitman, the son of original director Ivan Reitman. A noted director in his own right, the young Reitman, who can literally say he grew up with Ray, Peter, Egon and Winston, as well as Dana, was a child when he joined his father on the set of the iconic first movie – has taken hold of his father’s most famous franchise and brought it to life, satisfying new fans and more importantly, giving Ghostbusters the true sequel they’ve wanted to be made since 1989’s Ghostbusters II.

We won’t spoil Ghostbusters: Afterlife for you because there’s so much nostalgia and love packed in the film that chronicles the journey of Egon’s grandkids and daughter as they learn about that one time he, together with his friends, saved New York City.

With great performances by Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon, as well as some crazy cameos (trust us when we say these are not the cameos you were expecting when you walk into the theatre), Ghostbusters: Afterlife shows Hollywood that there is a way to bring a legacy film to a new audience that also honours and respects the source material.
