The best thing to come out of MWC 2015 in Barcelona is not a mobile phone. Those things have plateaued for the longest time already.
HTC announced that they would be working with Valve to develop a virtual reality headset called the HTC Vive. And by developed it means the damn thing is ready to be tested at the Game Developer’s Conference this week from March 2 – 6. Way to go HTC for being able to announce a gaming device prior to a gaming event. Many companies would love to get two hits from the media like you have done.
The HTC Vive will pair with a Steam VR base station, which would allow users to walk around a virtual space instead of using a controller. A pair of the base stations will then track the user’s physical location in spaces up to 15 feet by 15 feet.
I’m not really sure what that really means but a fellow geek who is at MWC says that the device is certainly reVIVE-ing.
The reason why Valve chose to work with HTC is obvious. Clearly Half-life Three Confirmed.
