‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Trailer Unleashes Symbiote Mayhem & Denounces MCU Link

Sony has unveiled the first official trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, the thrilling conclusion to its Venom trilogy in the Spider-Man universe. Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock, alongside his alien symbiote, in this eagerly anticipated third instalment.

The trailer, a substantial three-minute preview, begins with Eddie Brock confronting a group of antagonists with a stern warning, which they foolishly ignore, setting the stage for Venom to unleash havoc. The trailer not only highlights intense action sequences but also taps into the comedic vein that characterized the previous films, particularly during a botched attempt by Eddie and Venom to deliver their iconic “We are Venom” line in unison.

The trailer further teases the arrival of more symbiotes to Earth from outer space, with Venom ominously warning, “My home has found us.” This foreshadows dire circumstances for Eddie and Venom, underscored by the film’s poignant tagline, “till death do they part,” and Eddie’s grave admission, “We may not make it out of this alive, buddy.”

The official plot synopsis hints at high stakes: “In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.”

Directed by Kelly Marcel who also worked on the previous Venom films as screenwriter, the film introduces new cast members Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange), who appear to be in pursuit of Eddie and Venom. This final film follows Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and incorporates a nod to the duo’s cameo in one of the Spider-Man: No Way Home post-credits scenes. The scene features Cristo Fernández in a bar with a piece of alien symbiote, an element captured by Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character.

The inclusion of this bar scene in the trailer has raised eyebrows among fans. Although it originally appeared in the MCU, the upcoming The Last Dance is situated within Sony’s Venom universe, creating some uncertainty about how these separate cinematic realms might intersect.

With its mix of humour, action, and cosmic stakes, Venom: The Last Dance promises to deliver a compelling finale to the trilogy come 25 October.
