United Airlines Launches Star Wars-Themed Plane, Complete With R2-D2 And C-3PO Safety Video

Flying to a place far, far away is certainly a drag for some. But United Airlines aims to take the dread of flying hundreds of miles with a new Star Wars-themed commercial plane.

In celebration of the launch of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in December, the refurbished Boeing 737-800 will take flight sometime in November this year.

Aside from the body bearing the iconic logo and several X-Wings in action, notable visual tweaks include the red and blue wingtips to ape the colours of lightsabers, and actual lightsabers depicted on either side of the tail.

On the interior end, headrests will feature the Resistance and First Order symbols across all cabins. Furthermore, the iconic music from the movies will play as passengers board the plane. And to make the deal even sweeter, the iconic dynamic droid duo R2-D2 and C-3PO will be part of the safety demonstration.

But that’s not all – passengers who board the plane will also receiver a Star Wars amenities kit, which includes an eye mask, a pair of socks, a toothbrush, earbuds and a packet of tissues.

And if you’re tracking a loved one or a friend on the plane, you can easily track it on the FlightAware website or app, as it appears as an X-Wing starfighter.

UA isn’t the only commercial airline to celebrate Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker; All Nippon Airways from Japan also did them a solid with a C-3PO-themed plane, where even its interior and cabin crew are all decked out in C-3PO colours.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will release in theatres on December 19 in Singapore, and December 20 in the US.
