Revving into town this 2022 is the highly detailed LEGO Technic 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car model. It comes with its very own V6 cylinder engine with moving pistons, a working steering wheel, suspension and differential locking. This is also LEGO Technic’s first F1 racing car model.
The LEGO Technic 42141 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car model tops out at only 1,431 pieces (compared to the 3,696-piece Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 or the 1,677-piece Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51”) but it is no less impressive when completed.
It measures 65cm (length) x 27cm (width) x 13cm (height) and comes in the recognisable papaya colours of Team McLaren’s 2021 livery. The completed model will take up an eye-catching spot on your display shelf. Do note that the model is not a replica of Team McLaren’s 2022 car; some creative interpretation has been done to its model form.
We tried our hands at building it and it took almost 9 hours to build it on live stream via Twitch. LEGO enthusiasts would likely beat that easily, but hey, we did it while chatting with the viewers, so it was bound to take longer than expected.
Here are some close-ups of the McLaren F1 model.
