LEGO has been partnering with Ferrari for over 15 years and together, the company has brought out over 50 building sets with the famous car brand, of which three of those feature the iconic 488 GTE. Now, LEGO is releasing the LEGO Technic 42125 Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” set that is bound to blow the mind of any race car lover.
The new LEGO 42125 Technic Ferrari 488 GTE “AF Corse #51” model comes in the car’s classic red and consists of 1,677 pieces. The model is half a meter long and is an accurate looking model that comes with tons of stickers that you have to paste yourself.
With over 60 stickers, the process of pasting them can be quite a tedious process (on top of actually building the car) but it’s worthwhile knowing that you’ll end up with a bad boy that looks as realistic as possible.
The stickers, as you would see on the actual race cars, include racing and sponsor logos and gives the technic panels a glossy and fancy look. The model’s inner structure features a list of play features and functions like a replica V8 engine, functioning steering and a fully independent suspension.
The interior of the car is simple – a driver’s seat, a couple of control panels made with stickers and a steering wheel – as the main focus here is definitely the exterior.
However, the coolest function is that the front two wheels of the car rotate according to the movement of the steering wheel. In addition, the model features a solid suspension that can be activated by gently pressing down on the rear of the car.

The distinctive nose and front wing of the car stays true to the iconic italian race car and the rear even sports the prancing horse logo. Serious race fans will appreciate the attention to detail shown in this recreation, especially since LEGO Technic designer Lars Krogh Jensen has found various ways to pay homage to the car’s engineering powers and technology.
