Tom Cruise To Lead Jewel Changi Fly-By For Top Gun: Maverick Premiere In Singapore

Strap yourselves in boys and girls, the best of the best – Tom ‘Maverick’ Cruise is flying down to Singapore, and commandeering a fly-by at Jewel Changi Airport for the world premiere of his latest movie, Top Gun: Maverick.

And while he wasn’t allowed to fly an F-18 for the movie, he’s going to get into the seat of Singapore’s F-16 instead and maybe we’ll finally see that 4G inverted dive.

A certified pilot – he owns and flies a personal P-51 Mustang – Tom Cruise is well-known for doing his own stunts in his movies. In Mission: Impossible – Fallout, he a piloted helicopter as it dived down over a waterfall while in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, he hung from the side of a cargo plane as it took off, so It’ll be exciting to see him doing it in person, albeit from afar.

Top Gun: Maverick has been in the works since 2018, and is the sequel to the 1986 blockbuster that catapulted Tom Cruise to Hollywood’s A-list. The movie has been delayed a few times, from its original release date of July 2019 to this year, finally hitting the big screens on 26 May in Singapore (27 May in the US).

Tom Cruise will be reprising his role as Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell. Joining him are Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Lewis Pullman, Jay Ellis and Danny Ramirez. Anthony Edwards, whose character Nick “Goose” Bradshaw was killed during a training exercise in the first film, is returning for an extended cameo as well. Val ‘Iceman’ Kilmer also returns as Tom Kazansky, this time as Mitchell’s wingman, anytime.
