Live-Action ‘The Legend of Zelda’ Movie Finds Leads In English Actors Bo Bragason & Benjamin Evan Ainsworth

Nintendo and Sony’s live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has found its leading duo, tapping young English actors Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.

This news comes via a post on social media by Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, where he not only unveiled the casting, but also two images of what appear to be a first look at the actors in costume. “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen,” wrote Miyamoto in the post’s accompanying text.

21-year-old Bragason is known for her roles in various BBC One series, such as 2017’s Three Girls and 2024’s The Jetty, alongside the 2024 Disney+ series Renegade Nell. She has also starred in various films, including the 2021 psychological horror film Censor and the 2024 British horror comedy The Radleys.

16-year-old Ainsworth, on the other hand, is known for being the voice of Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ 2022 live-action film Pinocchio, and starred in Netflix’s 2020 supernatural series The Haunting of Bly Manor and the 2022 Canadian comedy series Son of a Critch.

The live-action adaptation, which is based on Nintendo’s iconic franchise of role-playing adventure games with a varied history leading back to 1986, will be directed by Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), with Miyamoto and Avi Arad (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Venom) on board as its producers.

The Legend of Zelda is set to hit theatres on 7 May 2027, following Nintendo’s announcement last month that the film would be postponed two months from its initial planned release date in March.
