E3 2019 may be over, but we are still reeling from the epic reveals that came out of it, such as Keanu Reeves and playing as a grandma in Watch Dogs Legion. It appears we may have another major leak for 2020, this time being Naughty Dog’s highly-anticipated The Last of Us Part 2.
And the source? None other than Ellie herself, played by Ashley Johnson.
Johnson, who won a BAFTA for her role as Ellie in the original game, inadvertently let slip a potential February 2020 release for The Last of Us Part 2 in a recent interview with fiancé Brian W. Foster in Critical Role‘s interview series, Between The Sheets.
She was caught on camera saying “Um, I think it’s coming out Fe–” before stopping herself.
A little too late now for Johnson, as the internet is a sharp-eyed beast these days. Aside from that momentary lapse of concentration, Johnson seems to be keeping her cool about the release date whenever fans would bug her about it on social media.
Another source further bolsters Johnson’s accidental reveal of the release date for The Last of Us Part 2, notably in the form of Kotaku‘s Jason Schreier, who also got word of the 2020 release dates of Cyberpunk 2020 and Ghost of Tsushima ahead of E3 2019.
Again, we are reminded that 2020 is going to be a massive year for gaming based on these sources.
Forget that Sony PlayStation wasn’t at E3 this year (heck, they’ve been stealthily holding their own press conference without even being at E3) — their upcoming titles such as the aforementioned Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake are all going to be part of the tidal wave that is 2020.
Aren’t we glad now that Naughty Dog delayed the game to next year?

Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
