Paramount Pictures has got one big shell on them. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is hitting theatres in August, but the studio is already developing a sequel to the movie, and a Paramount+ series too.
The sequel movie will be produced by Point Grey Pictures and directed by Jeff Rowe. Rowe also directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
As for the Paramount+ series, it will be a 2D animated series with two seasons. It will be titled Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and will act as a bridge between the two movies. No release date has been announced, but we do know that all four turtles – Nicolas Cantu, Sharon Brown Jr., Micah Abbey and Brady Noon – will return to voice their roles as Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael respectively.
Point Grey Pictures is also producing the Paramount+ series. Chris Yost and Alan Wan will be serving as executive producers and showrunners. Lukas Williams will be overseeing both the series and sequel for Point Grey.
“In the nearly 40 years since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched into the zeitgeist, it has entertained generations of fans and only continues to grow,” said Paramount and Nickelodeon chief Brian Robbins. “We are excited to grow TMNT’s legacy in partnership with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg at Point Grey, and Jeff Rowe, who are innovating the franchise with their singular brand of humour and elevated storytelling for audiences everywhere, across virtually every platform.”
“Reinvigorating this franchise has been years in the making, and we are thrilled to continue expanding the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe and bringing new adventures to families and fans,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Paramount Animation & Nickelodeon Animation.
In the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem the four turtle brothers grow tired of being isolated from humanity so they set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and try to find acceptance as normal teens by performing heroic deeds.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem premieres on 31 August.
