‘Superman’ Behind The Scenes Video Offers First Looks At Anthony Carrigan’s Metamorpho, Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl And More

Warner Bros. and DC Studios are celebrating Superman Day with the release of a new behind-the-scenes video for James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film, offering fresh looks at not only the titular hero, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, but also other heroes and villains set to appear in the blockbuster like Metamorpho, Hawkgirl, and more.

“Being a child, I loved the purity of Superman.” said director Gunn as he narrates the video alongside producer Peter Safran and the film’s star-studded cast. “We love the opportunity to play with the incredible DC library of characters and stories, and we really want to do justice for them.” added Safran all while the video showcases footage of the film’s development, featuring a better look at its set design, stuntwork, practical effects and cast shenanigans.

Speaking of its cast, the behind-the-scenes video offers a new look at the film’s roster of heroes, villains and other supporting cast memebers, including Anthony Carrigan (Barry, Twisted Metal) as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced (Alien: Romulus, Madame Web) as Hawkgirl, alongside the Daily Planet crew of Wendell Pierce (The Wire) as Perry White, Skyler Gisondo (Night at the Museum) as Jimmy Olsen, and Mikaela Hoover (Glee) as Cat Grant. Alongside David Corenswet’s Superman, Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, and other previously teased heroes like Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner and Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific, the film is shaping up to be one of epic proportions.

As the first live-action movie in Gunn’s rebooted DC universe, all eyes will be set on Superman to determine if the film can present a fresh perspective on the world’s first superhero, or if it will crash-land face-first in the snow like Corenswet does in its trailers. All this remains to be seen as Superman soars towards its theatrical release on 11 July 2025.
