The best thing about December (especially for those of us living near the equator where it’s basically summer all year round) is… no, not the season of giving, it’s the year-end sales. Yes, we’ve just had Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but if your wallet’s not completely devastated yet, well, you still have the Steam Winter Sale to get through.
The Steam Winter Sale is here! ❄ Enjoy great discounts on thousands of games from now 'til January 3rd!
This year's sale features two special events: Steam's Extremely Cozy Cottage of Surprises and voting in the third-annual Steam Awards.https://t.co/4TuWeBVo1O pic.twitter.com/rA4xny2rwf

Running from now till January 3, 2019, you can expect to see price slashes for an impressive number of games — even the bigger names, like Hitman 2, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey or Monster Hunter: World. There’s also Steam’s Extremely Cozy Cottage of Surprises, a daily advent calendar that’ll hand out packages featuring in-game and/or community items. And don’t worry if you miss a day, you can collect all past rewards up to the end of the Winter Sale.
Day One has bestowed upon us a set of Everyday Socks, cozyjunimogreen emote and an event exclusive Monster Hunter: World profile background.
The Steam Winter Sale also marks the start of voting for The Steam Awards!
This year, you can vote on all eight categories throughout the sale. Winners will be revealed in February 2019.

Held alongside the Winter Sale, voting for the Steam Awards has also kicked off. We’ve eight categories to cast our votes for, with the ever competitive “Best Developer” title seeing a whopping total of ten contenders — that’s double the usual, just so you know.
If you’re thinking of what games to pick up, aside from the obvious choices, we think Overcooked 2 (S$16.50 after a 25% cut) is probably a decent investment — great for late night Skype sessions with friends — and Cities Skyline (S$7.25 after a 75% cut) will likely be a nice outlet for your creative juices (and you know, latent world-domination desires).
