Square Enix has announced that its anime adaptation of its JRPG The World Ends With You will be premiering in April 2021.

The release date was announced in a new trailer for the anime, in which we see series protagonist Neku Sakuraba fight various monsters around him using the psychic powers he has gained. Towards the end, we get a screen confirming an April 2021 release window for the adaptation. No dates for a Western launch has been confirmed as of yet but it should also be expected to release sometime in 2021.

The anime adaptation for The World Ends With You was first announced in June 2020 during the Anime Expo Lite. Tetsuya Nomura, who worked on the original game and also Final Fantasy as a character designer, has been brought on board as a creative producer.

Aside from a new trailer and release date for the anime, an all-new The World Ends With You game, titled Neo: The World Ends With You, was also announced. It serves as a sequel to the original DS game.
