Singaporean Team Strikes Gold And A Chance At The 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup

Singapore has not been unfamiliar with victories in the global arena when it comes to gaming. We have seen the likes of Xian dominating the Fighting Game scene in Street Fighter, and analog gamers like Justin Phua, a lawyer by profession, win international championships.

Over the weekend, we have yet another trophy in the bag.

Team Flash, which comprises of Joseph Yeo (Zarate), Fernando Amraan (RippedJean), and Li Si Jun (WEyuwenC), won gold at the EA Champions Cup for FIFA Online 3. The event, which took place in Bangkok, is a regional tournament featuring players from South Korea, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

This is not the first time these players have competed at this level. Both Amraan and Yeo were part of the 2016 contingent representing Singapore at the same tournament, where they won third place that year. Li, was crowned China’s FIFA player of the year in 2017, and is currently studying in Singapore.

Following their win, the three gentlemen will move on to the EA SPORTS FIFA Global Series Playoffs. There, they would face off with another 127 teams to win one out of the 32 contending spots at the FIFA eWorld Cup, happening in June 2018.

Credit to their efforts, the team took home US$108,000 in prize money, and they stayed classy this time round. Congrats to the team!
