‘Silent Hill 2’ Remake Sets Oct 2024 Release, Gets Extended Gameplay Footage

Hot on the heels of the latest PlayStation State of Play, the Silent Hill Transmission showcase offered an extended look at Bloober Team’s highly-anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2. The game is confirmed to release this 8 October, with a short teaser highlighting the environment, the various monsters, more combat action, and of course, protagonist James Sunderland and Angela’s appearances.

Picking up the pace, a separate 13-minute gameplay trailer unveiled familiar scenes and some slight changes. In it, James begins exploring the titular town and heads inside a building, only to be attacked by a monster after picking up a radio (instead of outside in an ally). He defeats it with a wooden board pried off a nearby window, and continues his search for Mary, before crossing paths with Laura.

Later, he is seen traversing the dimly-lit premises of Brookhaven Hospital with Maria, encountering a nurse enemy along the way. The video ends with James trapped in a locked room, as he prepares to confront a creature crawling down from the ceiling.
