Paramount+’s cancelled Halo TV series has found a new home on Netflix, climbing the streamer’s ranks as one of its most-viewed series in the process.

Originally premiering on Paramount+ in March 2022, the Halo adaptation struggled right from the get-go, drawing criticism from fans of the game for its portrayal of Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber, Den of Thieves), specifically the fact that the character takes off his helmet, something he has never done in the long-running video game franchise, as well as his relationship with the show’s original character Makee (Charlie Murphy, Obsession).
Although it was praised for its action sequences, which paid homage to the epic nature of its source material, this couldn’t overcome the criticisms targeted at its deviation from the game’s narrative, and Halo was cancelled in 2024, after just two seasons.
Now, the series has gained a new lease on life with Netflix, and it’s even thriving to boot, as Halo has risen to become one of the streamer’s most-viewed. According to IGN, the show also managed to secure a top spot as the fourth most-popular TV show on the U.S. chart on 3 October.

Alongside Schreiber and Murphy, the Halo TV series also stars Kate Kennedy (How to Train Your Dragon) as Kai-125, Natascha McElhone (The Truman Show) as Dr Catherine Elizabeth Halsey, Natasha Culzac (Men in Black: International) as Riz-028, and Yerin Ha (Bridgerton) as Kwan Ha. Its first season was helmed by Kyle Killen and Steven Kane, while David Wiener took over for the second.
